Teaching Community Music:
I teach Community Music at Edinburgh College and in conjunction with Abertay University in supervisory role for BA students focusing on Community Music for their Personal projects. It’s ironic how much of teaching community music does not focus on the music itself (although we mustn’t forget it!), but on the way in which we work with people. Much of what I teach and talk about is about connecting with and facilitating a group.
Training: I have a particular interest in the ‘duty of care’ of arts practitioners. Things that are so Knowing your strengths and limits as a practitioner. Trainings focus on a range of areas and are devised to suit the needs/request of those attending.
Talking: Talking and presenting at seminars and conferences on the subject of Good Practice, Duty of Care and the 'practice of teaching the practice' of Community Music. Leading more interactive conversations vs talking 'at' people is always my preference!
